What Is Earth Friendly Jewellery?

For me, earth friendly jewellery is all about making with intention—keeping sustainability, ethical sourcing, and mindful craftsmanship at the heart of every piece. I work alone from my home studio, creating by hand with materials and methods that are gentle on the planet and kind to animals.

  • I use recycled silver in all my jewellery, including leftover scraps from my own work. Using what's already in circulation helps reduce the environmental impact of mining and supports a more sustainable approach to making.

  • I choose gemstones from trusted suppliers who care about fair working conditions and ethical sourcing. I also use sea glass I’ve collected myself—shaped naturally by the waves and given new life in jewellery.

  • Everything I use is free from animal products, including my tools and finishing materials like wax and polishing compounds. As a vegan, it's important to me that my process reflects my values from start to finish.

  • Orders are packed using earth friendly materials—plastic-free and either recyclable, compostable, or reusable. I use:

    • Recyclable cardboard postal box.

    • Acid Free tissue paper.

    • Plantable wildflower seed cards, stamped with vegan ink.

    • Business card, 100% post consumer waste and recyclable.

    • Recyclable cardboard jewellery box, with plant based foam insert.

    • Bamboo silk yarn (100% bamboo).

    • Dried petals, hand picked and dried.

    • Recycled (post-consumer waste) paper branded sticker.

    • Brown eco printed paper packing tape.

About the jeweller:

Hello! I’m Georgia – designer, maker, photographer and packer behind The Kind Path. I handcraft all my jewellery in my home studio in Sussex, where I live with my partner and our two little ones.

My love of jewellery started with crystals. As a child, I collected shiny stones—polished and rough—the more sparkles, the better! It began when my beautiful mum bought me a piece of rough rose quartz on holiday. I still have it, and still love it.

Wanting to wear my stones, I began wire-wrapping them, and soon others wanted to wear them too. That grew into a small jewellery business and eventually led me to silversmithing. I’d always admired the craft and finally took a beginner’s silver jewellery course in 2016, gifted by my now-husband. In 2021, I took a longer evening class and slowly gathered the tools to work from home.

With a few pauses along the way—mainly for my two children, born in 2020 and 2022—I now have a small studio space where I can create (and keep tools safely out of reach from little hands!).

Nature often inspires my work. I’m especially drawn to greens and blues—turquoise is a favourite—but I enjoy bringing in other colours too. All of my pieces are made with care using recycled silver, ethically sourced gemstones, and vegan-friendly materials and tools. Sustainability is at the heart of everything I do.

I’ve been vegan since 2015 and am passionate about making jewellery that’s kind to animals, people, and the planet. I carefully research every material I use to ensure it aligns with those values.

5% of each online jewellery sale is donated to The Retreat Animal Rescue in Kent—a beautiful sanctuary, which is a family favourite day out.

Thank you so much for supporting what I do. I always love hearing from you, so feel free to get in touch any time.

With love,

Georgia
